10 BEST Gifts for a Crocheter

10 BEST Gifts for a Crocheter

gift guide for someone who crochets

As the winter holiday season rolls around once again, I have had lots of people reach out and comment on my posts asking what are some gift ideas for someone for crochets! So, I went ahead and surveyed my followers and brainstormed some myself too to come up with an extensive list of excellent gift ideas for anyone who loves to crochet. These are great gifts for any level of crocheter - anyone from an absolute beginner, to someone who has been crocheting for years and years - and maybe even designs their own crochet patterns!

Without further ado - here is my list!

1. Quality Yarn

Choosing yarn for someone who doesn't knit or crochet can seem REALLY daunting - but it is an awesome gift! Make sure to choose something really nice, a hand dyed quality yarn that your loved one might not want to splurge on for themselves!

Some things to consider is fiber content - quality yarns are usually natural fibers such as merino wool, wool, alpaca, etc for the warmer and softer fibers (if you live in a cold climate). Or something like cotton, linen, rayon, or viscose for someone who lives in a hot climate and likes to create lighter garments!

If you do end up going with yarn - make sure to buy enough for a small or medium sized project of the same kind of yarn (don't just buy one skein of each!)

Going to a physical store might be a great idea, that way you would be able to ask the store employees what their favourites are and you'll get some awesome suggestions!

If you shop online - here are some of my favourites and why!

Malabrigo Yarn

"Malabrigo yarn is of the highest quality from their small, family-owned company in Uruguay. One of South America's leading wool producers, Malabrigo offers a range of luxurious, hand-dyed yarns. "

Malabrigo is my favourite yarn of all time probably - and that is because they have some of the most amazing, soft merino wool yarn! The color combinations are STUNNING and the quality is the best.

As for the yarn weight - they do have lots of different thicknesses - I enjoy the Chunky or Worsted weights. I think those are the most versatile!

Any crocheter or knitter would be absolutely thrilled to get some of their yarn!

For example, I used the Malabrigo Chunky Yarn to create the Aspen Pullover (Pictured below :))

We Are Knitters

We are knitters has all natural fiber - made in Peru.

I personally loveeee their yarn once again, because of the quality! Their yarn is soft, and the colors are beautiful! Another cool thing about them, is that they have yarn, yes, but they also have kits! Therefore, if you would like to take the guess work out of selecting the perfect yarn for a project, or you're unsure how much yarn to buy for your loved one's creations - then you could just buy a kit. Kits are ready to go with the perfect amount of yarn, and a pattern.

If you are interested in purchasing their yarn - here is my code for a little discount : MGMCW6SL9.

Andd.... here is the project that I made myself using their Petite Wool!

2. Ergonomic Hook

When I started crocheting, I had just the bare minimum - but as I got better and better I got more and more tools that I now for sure couldn't live without!

Here are some of my absolute favourites!

Ergonomic Hook Handle

If you ask me, this is THE BEST ergonomic handle out there.

It fits perfectly with any aluminum hook ( size 2.5 mm - 6.5 mm) that your loved one might already have and eases the pressure on their hands as they crochet!
This has been an absolute game - changer for me!

3. Crochet Stitch Markers

Stitch Markers are those things that I never thought I needed - until I finally got some and started using them!

Lots of patterns will request that you use them, I sometimes just used earrings, or paper clips - but they are sooo useful once you have them!

Here are some super cute little sets!

4. Crochet Stitch Books

Whether you are shopping for a brand new crocheter - or someone who is a seasoned pattern designer - this is a gift for ALL!

Pattern books can be some of the most useful tools out there. I love just flipping through mine and finding new stitches for the next project.

It's great for someone who is always looking to learn new things and loves pulling ideas from lots of different sources when creating!

Here are three of my absolute favourites!

And.... If you would like to learn more about the BEST Crochet Stitch Books, please check out my blog post where I talk just about the books, and why I love each one!

5. Yarn Bowl

A yarn bowl - is again - something I didn't even know I needed! It serves as both a practical and aesthetically pleasing accessory for any crochet enthusiast!

A yarn bowl can be created from materials like ceramic, wood, or plastic, and is designed to keep yarn tidy and prevent it from rolling away. It can also be a really beautiful addition to any craft room!

Here are some GORGEOUS options!

I personally have a wooden yarn bowl, and I love it so much!! This specific product comes in tons of different colors and materials, so there is lots to choose from to suit your loved one's taste!
This one... is just the CUTEST thing! I couldn't resist!

6. Knitting Machine

(Sentro Knitting Machine or Addi King Knitting Machine)

Okay now this one is a little bit different because it doesn't have anything to do with crochet.... but it is a fun little tool for someone who loves fiber art.

The premise of the Sentro Knitting Machine or the Addi King Knitting Machine is that they might look like toys - BUT they have the ability to quickly and easily create flat knit panels or tube panels that can then be transformed into anything that you would like!

The panel can then be stitched together to create wearable garments or accessories such as hats, or earwarmers. I have also seen people turn their panels into little pumpkins for fall, or little trees for the winter holidays! The pattern ideas out there are countless, and this is just a fun little side hobby for people who love fiber arts!

If you do end up going with this option, I also have one of my very own Knitting Machine Patterns - available for freeeee - right here!

I personally own the Sentro Machine (the budget friendly option):

7. Yarn Winder and Swift

Now, a yarn winder and swift combo is an absolute game-changer for any crochet enthusiast! I again, thought that this was something I could do without, I spent years using different hacks to wind yarn out of hanks into cakes... but once I finally caved and bought this tool combo, I realized what I had been missing!!

Picture this: no more struggling with tangled yarn, no more wasted time untangling knots. The yarn winder effortlessly transforms hanks or skeins into neat, organized cakes, and when paired with a swift, it's like magic! The swift holds the yarn taut, ensuring a smooth and stress-free winding process. This dynamic duo not only saves time but turns the yarn preparation into a FUN and efficient experience, allowing crocheters to dive right into their projects with ease.

It's the kind of gift that is guaranteed to make your loved one's crochet sessions all the more enjoyable.

Here is the combo that I own:

8. Project Bag

For a crocheter who likes to bring their work everywhere with them ... this might be just the perfect little accessory!

I know for me, I can never keep everything in one place.. I lose my hooks, can't find my stitch markers, and seem to never have scissors when I finally need them. THIS bag though, might be one of the best ideas to keep everything together and make sure that the crocheter in your life never loses their stuff or tangles their yarn again!

The separate little compartments help keep everything organized and then the giant space inside for the current work-in-progress is perfect so that nothing gets lots, and no strings get pulled on while its still in progress!

Here are some project bag ideas:

9. Yarn Store Giftcard

Now.. if you are not confident in your own yarn selecting skills, you can always opt to give your loved one a gift card to a small yarn shop in your area!

This is a great idea if you want to give them the opportunity to buy something for the craft that they love - but you also want to give them the chance to pick it out themselves! Because trust me when I say that buying and picking out yarn is probably just as fun to them as actually crocheting with it!

10. Ergonomic Crochet Pillow

Another one of those things that I think make a crochet experience all the better - is an ergonomic crochet pillow!

Especially if your loved one is someone who crochets A LOT, and for extended periods of time... this is something they are sure to LOVE!

This pillow supports the hands and elbows and helps our muscles relax while crocheting - reducing pain and risk of injury!
