Avocado Coaster - Free Crochet Pattern

Created by: Crochet With Cookie

I have been really obsessed with creating these cute little avocado coasters for a while now, and I am so excited to share this pattern with you!

This is a beginner-friendly, easy, and very quick pattern! You can use avocado colors for your yarn, or you can get creative and use other colors! Since these coasters are small, it also makes them an excellent scrap yarn project for using up any tiny bits of left over yarn you have laying around!

I personally LOVE this pattern so much, that you will always find at least 10 avocado coasters laying around all over my apartment, ready to protect my furniture from the hot/cold mugs I leave all over the place. Since this is the case, and I leave my mugs everywhere, I wanted a coaster that was functional of course, but also super cute to have laying around. These little avocados do the trick! Every time anyone visits my place they always give compliments on how cute the coasters are, so that's why I decided to write up a free crochet pattern to share with you!

These little guys would also make an excellent gift!

Or they would make a great addition to your own home, especially if you're like me and always looking for a new spot to leave your drinks.

If all of that sounds good to you... grab your yarn and your hook, and follow along with this free beginner-friendly crochet pattern to make your very own avocado coasters!

Choosing Yarn for this Project:

For this pattern I would recommend using cotton yarn to make sure that your coasters do not melt if you are putting hot drinks on them. A natural fiber would be best at resisting heat - whereas something like acrylic yarn can melt if exposed to high temperatures.

Notes:

Depending on the weight of yarn that you are using, you will need to choose your crochet hook accordingly. If you choose a thicker yarn, the avocados will turn out thicker and larger, if you choose a thinner yarn they will turn out smaller and thinner. I chose to use a 4 mm hook with size 4 brown and dark green yarn, and I used two strands at once for the lighter green yarn.
